YELLOWKNIFE - A 21 year-old man found guilty of stabbing another man behind the Raven Pub last summer was sentenced to three and a half years in prison earlier this month.

Delroy Morgan was found guilty of aggravated assault for a fight in the early morning hours of July 23, 2006 that left the victim with stab wounds on his forearms, torso and the back of his head.

Morgan was granted credit for one and a half years of time already served.

Justice Louise Charbonneau also issued a 10-year firearms prohibition.

Charbonneau heard a week of testimony from witnesses.

She said she had problems figuring out what happened as most of the witnesses were intoxicated the evening of the incident.

One witness was able to identify the car of the assailant as the same car Morgan left in.

Charbonneau also watched a video of Morgan's testimony while in police custody after the incident.

In the video, Morgan admitted he didn't remember anything that happened that evening after leaving the bar.

In her verdict prior to sentencing April 13, Charbonneau said that due to the "chaotic" circumstances of the evening, she could only find Morgan guilty of stabbing the victim in the back of the head.
