Double stabbing in Ndilo

YELLOWKNIFE - Two women were stabbed and sent to hospital Wednesday morning in Ndilo.

The younger of the two women, 26, is believed to have been stabbed in the abdomen or chest area, according to Const. Roxanne Dreilich of the Yellowknife RCMP.

After surgery at Stanton Territorial Hospital Wednesday, medical personnel tried to medivac her to Edmonton later that day, said Dreilich.

Enroute, her condition worsened, forcing them to turn back and keep her in Yellowknife until her condition stabilized.

"This leads us to believe her condition is precarious but the hospital ultimately makes those classifications," said Dreilich.

The woman was still in Yellowknife Thursday, according to the last update the RCMP had, said Dreilich.

The other woman, 31, was also still in hospital, though her injuries are said to be less serious.

The women were not able to provide RCMP with any information explaining the circumstances leading to the stabbing, according to an RCMP statement.

No charges have been laid and the address where the stabbing took place is still being established, said Dreilich.

"The investigation is ongoing," she said.
