YELLOWKNIFE - The Kimberlite Career and Technical Centre (KCTC) celebrated its third anniversary this year by adding three new staff members, including Lewis Jacobs, who began teaching a builder trades helper course last week.

KCTC co-ordinator Allyson Stroeder said all but one student in the school's first trades entrance program passed their entrance exams. High school and college students were tutored in math, science and English to help improve their marks for the test.

Robotics instructor Brent Currie recently visited Lutsel K'e, where he led 12 students from Grade 5 to 10 through a two-day camp in lego robotics. De Beers helped fund the camp.

Meanwhile, Shannon Gullberg, chair of the Yellowknife Catholic school board, is now vice-president of the Alberta Catholic School Trustees' Association (ACSTA).

Gullberg previously held a director's position with the ACSTA.
