INUVIK - Inuvik's Canadian Rangers returned on Feb 6 from a four-night, six-day stay in the wilderness.
As temperatures dipped to -30C and below during the week, the 16 rangers camped in tents and travelled by snowmobile.
The event ended with a parade on Jan. 8 at Aurora College, which was attended by a handful of local people.
Abel Tingmiak, who has been a Canadian Ranger since 1989, said the process of camping hasn't changed much over the years. For instance, he said rangers still heat by wood stove, and often eat traditional foods.
"We have rations, but also bring some meat and muktuk," he said.
