Yellowknife (Jan 12/07) - A plane from Frankfurt, Germany, landed at the Yellowknife Airport on Tuesday, for a female passenger to be taken to hospital for a medical emergency.

The plane, a United Airlines 747, was on its way to San Francisco, when it was diverted to Yellowknife, according to Bob Kelly, communications manager at the airport.

There were 351 passengers on board when it landed around 3:30 p.m., said Kelly.

Kelly said all planes were kept running on time that day.

"We had to keep moving aircraft around. [The plane] took up a big chunk of real estate on the apron."

The woman was taken to Stanton Territorial Hospital for an undisclosed ailment.

Everything went well at the airport and the plane left around 6 p.m. said Kelly.

"It was fairly uneventful, other than t was very interesting to see an aircraft of that size in Yellowknife."

Passengers of the aircraft remained on board during the lay over.
