Cape Dorset (Oct 09/06) - You have to wonder when Sarah Oshutsiaq has time to herself.
Between the Rangers and the Girl Guides, this 28-year-old Cape Dorset resident is always on the go.
She has lived in Cape Dorset her entire life, and has seen the hamlet grow.
"It is bigger now, and I'm so happy there is finally going to be a youth centre," said Oshutsiaq.
She also works at Co-op in the hamlet, but gets her joy from being a Girl Guide leader.
"Working at the Co-op, it's all right. I volunteer with the Guides, and there are over 40 of them. We do activities, arts and crafts," said Oshutsiaq.
With the Rangers, Oshutsiaq gets to travel on the land, which she enjoys.
"We go out on the land, to the shooting range, we learn how to use the GPS, learn search and rescue. It's great," said Oshutsiaq.
She also has a theory about the berries in southwest Baffin Island. A few weeks ago, some elders from Cape Dorset travelled to Kimmirut, because there are more berries there.
More isn't always better, according to Oshutsiaq.
"We have very tasty berries. They might have bigger ones, but ours are tastier," said Oshutsiaq.
