Yellowknife (Oct 16/06) - NMI Mobility, a subsidiary of Bell Mobility, is working to correct problems that are affecting cell phone services in Yellowknife.
As of Thursday of last week, cell phone service with Bell Mobility became erratic in the city.
A network upgrade began in Yellowknife last week, but the company couldn't confirm the connection between the upgrade and cell phone problems occurring in the city, said Chris McNutt, media relations with NMI Mobility.
Part of the upgrade would allow mobile services, such as blackberries, to work and allow cell phone users to access the web. "We acknowledge that there are problems and we are doing the best to resolve them," he said. The scheduled network upgrade should be completed by Wednesday, Oct. 18, he said.
