Yellowknife (Sep 08/06) - Jurors heard recordings of a conversation between RCMP and the man accused of stabbing a 19-year-old man in NWT Supreme Court, Wednesday.

According to the tape from June 19, 2005, Jean Rene Samuel (Sam) Perrino told RCMP, "If he gets in, he's dead!" referring to men outside his home.

At the time, police reported that a group of men were vandalizing a car outside Perrino's Kam Lake home before the incident.

The jurors also heard testimony from the Crown's key witness, the now 20-year-old man who said Perrino stabbed him.

The man said he didn't deserve to be stabbed and that he and his friends "weren't that threatening."

Perrino, a well-known musher, is charged with aggravated assault. He has yet to testify.

There are only 11 jurors to hear the case. Two - one an alternate - were dismissed due to conflicts of interest. The trial is expected to continue into next week.
