Yellowknife (Sep 01/06) - A 16-year-old girl and a 26-year-old man were given a warning after they were caught having sex in front of a 52 Avenue home last weekend.

RCMP arrived on scene around midnight Aug. 26 following a report from a witness. Const. Colleen Werrell said Mounties arrived after the paramours had finished their fling and told them that their behaviour was illegal.

The two were not charged with an indecent act. Canada's age of consent is 14, a cut-off that has remained unchanged since the late 1800s.

Man stabbed in arm

A 19-year-old man admitted to police he may have stabbed a 23-year-old man in the early morning hours of Aug. 22.

The victim was found by RCMP behind the Hilltop Apartments between 3 a.m. and 3:30 a.m.

The suspect had a knife in his possession at the time he spoke police, according to Werrell.

No charges have been laid because the victim would not co-operate with the RCMP. Werrell could not say where or why the incident happened.

The investigation is ongoing.

Man assaulted in Sombe K'e Park

Two men are charged with assault causing bodily harm after a man was kicked and punched in Sombe K'e Park.

The men charged are 21 and 22-years-old. The 36-year-old victim reported the attack to the RCMP station Aug. 28 at 8 a.m. Werrell said the man had a swollen face, a cut to his lip and was holding his left side.

The victim said the men kicked and punched him, then threw him to the ground, according to police.

No charges in fight outside gas station

Police have decided not to lay charges against two teens who got into a fist fight at a Range Lake Road gas station after brandishing knives.

The fight happened Aug. 26 between 2 a.m and 2:30 a.m. and police said no injuries were reported.

The 17-year-old, who reported the altercation, said he happened upon a group of youths kicking a truck, said police.

Werrell said the youth told the group to "stop" when one pulled out a knife. The 17-year-old proceeded to do the same. The teens dropped their knives and had a fist fight.

Werrell said there are no suspects because the youth couldn't identify anyone involved.

Man's licence suspended for a day

A 26-year-old man's driver's licence was suspended for 24 hours after he was charged with impaired operation of a vehicle.

Police received a report of a man suspected of drunk driving Aug. 22 around 1:30 a.m.

The man was arrested after he stepped out of his vehicle on Braathen Avenue.
