Iqaluit (Sep 11/06) - Two Iqaluit men remain missing and are believed drowned after a weekend boating accident on Frobisher Bay.

Officials called off the search for Edward Munick and Billy Ford early last week.

"We haven't heard anything but we're always hopeful for a positive outcome," said RCMP Sgt. Mike Toohey Thursday.

Ford and a woman somehow fell out of the boat during the night of Sept. 2, and Munick jumped in to rescue them, Toohey said.

The woman made it back to the boat. Two other people were in the craft. No one was wearing floatation devices, police said.

A local boater picked up the three survivors and brought them back to Iqaluit. During the height of the search, Iqaluit Search and Rescue marshalled more than 25 boats to look for the men.
