Mounties are planning another bike viewing sometime in October.
Drug bust lands 122 grams of marijuana
North Wright Airways employees found a package containing 122 grams of marijuana waiting to be flown from Yellowknife to Deline, earlier this month.
Employees of the regional carrier called the RCMP earlier this month after opening a suspicious package that smelled like pot. The package was dropped off sometime between 12 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. on Aug. 16.
Const. Colleen Werrell said there was no way of proving who dropped of the marijuana because no identification was collected.
Police believe there is virtually no chance of finding the culprits, calling the find a no-case seizure.
Even though there are no suspects, Werrell said, "That's 122 grams less that will make it to Deline."
Man accused of punching common-law in face
Charges are pending against a 36-year-old man who police believe punched his common-law wife in the face.
The incident happened at Ptarmigan Apartments in downtown Yellowknife Aug. 17 between 2:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m.
The victim is also 36-years-old. No serious injuries were reported.
Quiet week for public drunkenness
There were 70 complaints of public intoxication from last Friday to Monday, about 40 per cent less than a typical weekend according to police.
"That's compared to 90 to 100. It's quite a bit lower than usual," said Werrell.
She said it could be because of the cooler weather at night.
The RCMP are stricter when it comes to public intoxication in the winter because the elements can lead to serious injuries or death, said Werrell.
Male charged for stealing car
A 31-year-old man has been charged with stealing a car from downtown Yellowknife, according to police.
A 2006 Ford Focus was taken between 1:30 a.m. and 8:20 a.m. on Aug. 18. Mounties did not release how or when the suspect was found.
