Man charged with six break-ins

Yellowknife (Aug 02/06) - A 21-year-old man is charged with six counts of break and enter in relation to break-ins at businesses on Old Airport Road.

"He was arrested based on evidence left at the scenes," said Sgt. Darcy Fleury.

The man is suspected of stealing cash from at least five businesses, including Igloo Building Supplies and RTL Robinson Enterprises Ltd. between July 18 and 19.

Fleury said the suspect may be connected to other break and enters in downtown businesses.

Police did not release the amount of money the man stole or what evidence the forensic labs used to connect the man to the crimes.

Yellowknife Yacht Club thefts

Police received three complaints of theft at the Yellowknife Yacht Club, located near the Giant Mine townsite.

Over the last two weeks, people reported items like GPS systems, fishing equipment, fuel, and liquor missing from their boats.

Police have no suspects.

Ankles broken in separate assaults

Two people suffered broken ankles after being assaulted July 23 in separate incidents.

A 24-year-old man was medevaced to Edmonton after being assaulted outside a downtown bar around 1 a.m.

There are no suspects in this case.

A 17-year-old youth's ankle was broken when he was attacked by three people outside Ruth Inch Memorial Pool between 4:30 a.m. and 5 a.m.

According to police, the attackers fled the scene in a teal Ford Mustang.

Police said the case is still under investigation.

Charged with trafficking pot

A 30-year-old woman was charged with trafficking more than 30 grams of marijuana July 26.

The woman was arrested at 3 p.m. behind a downtown real estate business.

Police arrived on the scene when they received a report that two people were trafficking drugs.
