Yellowknife (Jun 28/06) - Three Yellowknife entrepreneurs decided working on the water is the only way to work in the summer.

Michele Stacey, Brendan Matthews and Dwight Grabke formed Flipside Watersports last fall as a way to create a small business and do something they enjoy.

The business will give customers an opportunity to waterski, wakeboard or knee board with instruction or on their own said Dwight Grabke, one of the instructors.

"It's a job that will keep us going for a number of summers and it's something we love to do," he said.

The trio created a business plan during the past fall and winter and will officially start-up on July 3rd. Flipside hopes to run until the end of August said Matthews.

Flipside Watersports will use a seven passenger boat for customers and both Grabke and Matthews are certified waterski and wakeboard instructors said Matthews.

"We'll be running primarily out of Long Lake, but there are different options for the customer," he said.

The company will offer week and half-week packages, primarily focused on children and teenagers he said.

A week-long package will cost $495 plus GST and a half-week package will cost $315 plus GST.

The company is focusing on younger clients during the daytime.

And Flipside hopes to attract adults looking to try something new.

"We want to give customers a wide variety of options," said Grabke.

The third member of the business, owner Michele Stacey is excited about the upcoming summer.

"People are coming up to us and saying that no one has ever had this sort of business before," said Stacey.

"We're really keen to get it going."

Besides offering instructions on different watersports, the company is also an official Hyperlite and HO Sports equipment distributor.
