Pelly Bay (Mar 27/06) - RCMP are still investigating the murder of a five-year-old girl in Kugaaruk last week.

Community members discovered the body of the young girl in a shed on March 10.

The death is considered a homicide and four members of the Iqaluit-based major crime unit responded to the scene soon after. Those members are still there.

Court commitments in different communities have the police on the move, but the major crime unit members are dividing their time between court and Kugaaruk.

There were no charges laid prior to Nunavut News/North’s deadline
