Fort Norman (Feb 27/06) - A 38-year-old Tulita woman has been charged with assault with a weapon and assault causing bodily harm after hitting her spouse with a car.
RCMP were called to the Tulita Health Centre at 9 a.m. on Feb. 23 to speak with the victim.
Constable Mike Jourdin of the Tulita RCMP detachment said the victim was hit by the accused female, who was driving a Ford Expedition, early that morning.
The incident occurred on Lower Road near the entrance to the ice road. The victim and accused's home was within walking distance from where the incident occurred.
"The victim was hit by the side of the vehicle with the mirror. He was not run over by the vehicle," said Jourdin.
After the man was hit, the woman drove away from the scene, but returned a short while later, said Jourdin.
He noted the man was sent to Stanton Territorial Hospital in Yellowknife as a precautionary measure. He was treated and later released.
The name of the accused cannot be released in order to protect the victim's identity.
RCMP took the woman into custody, but she was later released. She will appear in court in April.
