Police investigate sexual assault

Northern News Services

Yellowknife (Jan 06/06) - Police are investigating a sexual assault complaint after a Dec. 30 incident.

Charges have not been filed, Sgt. Mike Payne said.

"A 37-year-old female alleged the sexual assault at the residence of a 52-year-old male," Payne said.

In other incidents, on Dec. 15, a small quantity of marijuana was seized from two youths at Centre Square Mall.

Charges were not laid and police are exploring other options under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

Payne also reported that on Dec. 18, a complaint of armed robbery at the Shell gas station turned into a case of public mischief.

On Dec. 23, Payne said the new police dog also intercepted a shipment of alcohol destined for Lutsel K'e, a dry community. The investigation continues and charges have not yet been laid.
