Yellowknife (Dec 21/05) - An 82-year-old man who was punched in the face and robbed in his Kam Lake area home has been released from hospital while the search for his attacker goes on.

While shaken, the man was not seriously hurt during the assault which happened Thursday night around 9:30 p.m., police said.

Sgt. Darcy Fleury said police had a suspect. "We don't believe it was a random thing. We believe he was targeted," Fleury said.

By deadline Tuesday, Yellowknifer was unable to determine if police had arrested anyone in connection with the case.

The suspect pulled into the man's driveway and rang his doorbell, Fleury said. When the victim answered the door, the suspect punched him in the face and stole his wallet. Police believe the man knew the victim, who was alone during the robbery.

The man was taken to Stanton Territorial Hospital and released Friday. He did not have any broken bones or lasting injuries. "They were keeping him for observation," Fleury said.

The man was not able to tell police much about the assault, including the name his attacker.

"His recollection of the whole thing is vague," said Fleury.
