Pond Inlet (Dec 19/05) - Marvin Killiktee's first priority is his two children: Sophie and Dylen Pitseolak.
Just last week the 21-year-old Pond Inlet man took little Sophie, 4, on a trip from his home town of Pond Inlet to Iqaluit to have her teeth fixed.
"She walked into a table and cracked her two front teeth," said Marvin in the Iqaluit airport on his way back home.
Putting on a shy face, his daughter wouldn't comment, but seemed content with her fixed teeth as she sucked on a giant lollipop.
His second priority: keeping warm during the winter.
As a carpenter, this is tough.
"After every five nails are hammered, we have to go inside because our hands get so cold," he laughed.
Keeping the paint off his clothes is tough, too. The spray paint he uses to coat the walls gets everywhere, including the shoes he wore while waiting to board the plane.
Other than that, Marvin is a simple person who takes great pleasure out of the little things in life - like mastering the San Andreas Grand Theft Auto video game.
"I've finished it many times," he said.
The man likes to shoot. Hunting is another favourite activity, although this year is proving difficult.
"The ice isn't good enough now," said Marvin. "It's very thin."
But even though he can't go far out on the ice floes, he is still managing success while hunting.
But most of all, "I'm good at taking care of my kids," he said.
