And according to Twin Lakes MLA Robert McLeod, it was the "social event of the year."

With more than 40 exhibitors, some representing the work of others from their home communities not able to attend, there was a bounty of treasures up for sale.

"It's been very successful," said co-ordinator Yoenne Ewald on Sunday afternoon as the three-day event was wrapping up. "Some people said it was busier than last year."

From what Ewald heard from many participants, she says tables brought in anywhere between $50 and $6,000 over a weekend of sales.

"I surpassed last year on Saturday," said a pleased Lucy Nigiyok from Holman.

Sales were also brisk for Rebecca Francis of Fort McPherson, who on Sunday had sold out of her handmade items and was displaying work that remained from the 10 people she was representing from her hometown.

"Mukluks and wrap-arounds went good, especially the children's clothing," she said.

The snack bar did a steady business, as well. Volunteers estimated that 24-dozen hotdogs and more than 250 eskimo donuts were consumed during the weekend.

The annual event was organized through the Great Northern Arts Festival and sponsored by Industry, Tourism and Investment and Aklak Air, which provided discounted airfare to crafters from the outlying communities to attend.
