Aboriginal leaders talk revenue sharing

Inuvik (Nov 18/05) - Aboriginal leaders say they want more input into current devolution and resource revenue sharing talks between the territorial and federal governments.

"We need to be part of the decision-making process for land and resource management in the Northwest Territories," said Gwich'in Tribal Council president Fred Carmichael.

"We no longer want to be simply stakeholders."

Aboriginal government leaders met in Yellowknife last week to assess progress made to date on devolution and resource revenue sharing discussions and affirmed the mandate of the Aboriginal Summit and its negotiating team.
