Inuvik (Oct 07/05) - Those looking to shed the work-week blues might want to check out Delta Daze Loony Games, set for Friday, Oct. 7, in front of the Eskimo Inn on Mackenzie Road.

Aurora college student Ruth Elanik, games co-ordinator, promises a lot of fun.

"Students from the traditional arts and crafts course have put out the challenge to any group in the tug of war," she said.

While the tug-of-war is an adult event, there will be activities for kids, including needle and thread races, seal skin rope jumping, balloon busting and a three legged race.

"And we're going to have a bead in the jar guessing game for a cash prize, too."

Other Delta Daze events include a casino at the Eskimo Inn Friday and Saturday, pancake breakfast at the legion Saturday morning, kids carnival at SAMS beginning at 2 p.m. Saturday and helicopter rides at the in-town airstrip, weather permitting. Sunday's events include a steak barbecue at the Midnight Sun and the gold bar raffle draw.

A $1,000 scavenger hunt is planned for Monday at 1 p.m.
