Iqaluit (Oct 03/05) - Nunavut's most infamous pedophile will be back in an Iqaluit court in December.

Former teacher Edward Horne was in court last week for a preliminary hearing on charges he sexually assaulted four boys in the 1970s and 1980s when he worked in Cape Dorset and Sanikiluaq.

Horne will return to court Dec 8, 2005.

During the preliminary hearing, witnesses were heard from in person and on tape. A publication ban is in place to protect the identity of the alleged victims.

In 1987, Horne pleaded guilty to sexually assaulting eight children between 1983 and 1985, and was sentenced to six years in a federal prison.

In September 2000, he was sentenced to five more years in federal jail after pleading guilty to 20 of 72 sex-related offences. He was released to a Toronto halfway house in 2002. That same year, 82 of his victims agreed to an out-of-court settlement that saw the governments of the NWT and Nunavut pay $21 million.
