Iqaluit (Oct 28/05) - The winners of NorthwestTel's 2006 cover art competition haven't been named yet, but the contenders' entries can be viewed online at www.nwtel.ca until Nov. 18.

Three winning entries will be selected sometime in November for the company's 2006-07 directories in Nunavut, the NWT and Yukon/B.C. The winning artists will receive $15,000.

The contest closed in early October. Seven artists are competing for the Nunavut phonebook. Across the territories, 32 artists submitted material.

The contenders are Lee Bird of Gjoa Haven, Dolorosa Nartok of Kugaaruk, Richard Amarualik of Iglulik, Susan Amarualik of Iglulik, Danny Anluk of Gjoa Haven, Ernest Akekolik of Rankin Inlet and Lena Autut of Chesterfield Inlet.

Next year's competition will begin in March, said Anne Kennedy, director of public affairs for NorthwestTel.
