"The Bible contains six admonishments to homosexuals and 362 admonishments to heterosexuals. That doesn't mean that God doesn't love heterosexuals. It's just that they need more supervision." - Comedian Lynn Lavner

Yellowknife (Sep 30/05) - Yellowknife theatre troupe Kitsch in Sync is poking fun at prejudice with their latest dinner theatre production, Ralph Klein Kissed Me.
Set in small-town Alberta, the play explores the comical conflict that ensues when a son brings his professional drag-queen boyfriend home to meet dad, an oafishly conservative Bible salesman who's launching a mayoral campaign on a "morality" platform.
It's a witty farce in the tradition of the French-play-turned-broadway-sensation La Cage Aux Folles and the Hollywood film The Bird Cage.
"This is a really topical and fun show," said artistic director Chris Foreman.
"We've learned not to do Tennessee Williams here - and to do what the public wants, which is a good evening of laughter. That's exactly what we've put together."
Theatre lovers will recognize the cast members from previous community productions. Allan Ross (Oklahoma, Hello Dolly) plays the Bible-thumping father.
"My character is about as two-dimensional and straight-laced as one can get," he said. "He's the traditional buckle of the Bible belt. It's a really fun role."
Jeremy Findlay (Harold and Maude, Lend Me A Tenor) plays the high-heeled boyfriend, Butch.
"It's a very challenging role," he said. "But when it's a really good script, you're willing to do a lot to make it happen. We have a great cast and we're having a blast rehearsing."
The play runs at The Top Knight from Oct. 13-15 and Oct. 20-22.
