Fort Simpson (Sep 16/05) - Three Fort Simpson teenagers were convicted last week of breaking into the Seven Spruce Golf Club and stealing more than $1,200 in cash, liquor and chocolate bars.

The teens, aged 16, 17 and 19, all pleaded guilty to break and enter during court appearances last Wednesday in Fort Simpson.

The teens, along with two other friends, broke into Seven Spruce club house on consecutive nights, Aug. 29 and 30.

The first night they used a barbecue utensil to pry their way inside. A total of $1,244 in cash and supplies were stolen during the weekend heists, said Crown attorney Janice Walsh. Judge Robert Gorin placed all three on probation and ordered them to repay the golf club. He also ordered the 16-year-old and 17-year-old to perform 75 and 80 hours of community service respectively.

"I understand there is not a lot to do in Fort Simpson, but breaking and entering into some place is not the way to go," Gorin said.

The two remaining teens saw their cases dealt with outside of the court system, Walsh said.
