Man stabbed outside Iqaluit courthouse

Iqaluit (Aug 08/05) - An adult male is at Baffin Regional Hospital recovering from multiple stab wounds he received outside the Iqaluit courthouse on Aug. 1.

Police discovered the man, whom they won't identify, around 1 a.m.

Two men have been charged with attempted murder and aggravated assault in relation to the incident.

They appeared in a Nunavut Court of Justice on Aug. 4, where the matter was adjourned until Aug. 11 for a show cause hearing.

During a brief court appearance, Jason Kilabuk, 21, and Douglas Katsak, 18, agreed to the delay.

Katsak looked at ease, smiling at friends in the courtroom.

Kilabuk seemed tense, and hugged a
woman while leaving the courtroom.
