Yellowknife (Aug 26/05) - Living for 25 years or more in a community bonds and connects people, says Mickey Brown.

Brown is helping to organize a reunion for those who have resided in Yellowknife for a quarter century of their lives.

"It's a time to see old friends and have supper with them," Brown said.

The party is slated for Sept. 24 at Adlair Aviation.

Brown said the reason for organizing the event stems from the knowledge that "long-timers" don't live forever.

A committee of self-named "Fun Girls" got together to start planning, after a similar event drew 450 Yellowknifers and raised $6,600 that was donated to the Stanton Hospital Foundation.

"The tickets went so fast, we couldn't keep up," Brown said.

"The nicest part of this is the visiting part. Old timers don't see each other a lot anymore."

Tickets go on sale Sept. 1 at outlets across Yellowknife.
