Spence Bay (Aug 01/05) - The Taloyoak RCMP seized an estimated $4,000 worth of marijuana last week.

Acting on information from citizens, they executed a warrant on a residence at 2:25 p.m. on July 26.

Police also seized $380 in $20 bills that were located next to the marijuana stash.

There were 150 rolled joints, which sell in the hamlet for $20 each and enough un-rolled marijuana for an estimated 100 to 150 more joints, police said.

Fifty joints were found in one container, which weighed 30 grams, making for an average joint size of 0.6 grams, said Cpl. John Baranyi, who described the joints as being "thinner than a cigarette."

A 34-year-old woman has been charged with possession of a controlled substance in connection with the bust.

The accused has been released and is expected to appear in the Nunavut court of justice on Sept 14.
