Yellowknife (Aug 19/05) - Western Arctic Moving Pictures (WAMP) purchased new equipment this summer with funding provided by the City of Yellowknife Special Tools Grant and The Canada Council for the Arts.

The nonprofit arts organization encourages the production of independent film, video, audio and digital media by providing equipment, training and technical support to its members.

Members now have access to a Mac mini equipped with Final Cut Pro, which can be signed out as a portable editing suite.

All a member needs to edit video at home are their own monitor, keyboard and mouse to connect to the Mac mini.

An extra monitor, keyboard and mouse are available for those who need them. The group also purchased a 60GB iPod Photo, which can be used as a 60GB portable hard drive, a new 1CCD Sony MiniDV Camcorder for beginners, a Cannon Powershot A95 digital still camera and a Lowell Rifa lighting kit.

Anyone interested in learning to produce their own video can become a WAMP member for an annual fee of $25.
