Yellowknife (Aug 10/05) - The Yellowknife Detachment of the RCMP responded to 274 calls for service between July 26 and Aug. 8.

The detachment handled 143 public intoxication complaints during this time.

A total of 60 assaults were reported. Of these six were sexual assault, 45 were common assault, nine were assault causing bodily harm and three were aggravated assaults.

Police responded to 21 break and enters during the two-week period. Eight businesses and 13 residences were broken into.

Another 54 calls dealt with damage to property. Four thefts of motor vehicles were reported. There were two incidents of illegal drugs reported.
