Inuvik (July 15/05) - More than half a pound of cocaine, some marijuana and a large quantity of cash were seized by police in three separate incidents over the past couple of weeks.

A 27-year-old Whitehorse man was arrested June 19 and later charged with possession of marijuana and possession of proceeds of a crime. More than $20,000 in cash and just over seven grams of marijuana were seized

"Because the money and drugs were located together, the money was seized as a proceed of crime," said Const. Kyle Watson of the Inuvik RCMP.

He is scheduled to appear in Inuvik court, Aug. 2.

A B.C. man was scheduled to appear in court July 11 after being charged with trafficking and possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking.

In this June 22 incident, police recovered 281 grams of cocaine, worth more than $40,000.

The 28-year-old suspect was arrested in Jak Park, just outside of Inuvik, after police received a complaint. The man was released on a promise to appear in court.

Inuvik residents were integral in getting the drugs and money off the street, said Watson. "Both of these arrests were initiated by members of the public."

At approximately 6 p.m. on July 9, Inuvik RCMP were busy again, seizing 44 grams of marijuana and around $2,000 in cash after executing a search warrant at a Mackenzie Road residence.

A 22-year-old Inuvik man was arrested and charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking and possession of property obtained by crime.

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Inuvik Courthouse on Sept. 19.
