Yellowknife (June 29/05) - Three occupants of a boat that overturned in the east arm of Great Slave Lake are safe and back in Yellowknife.

Yellowknife RCMP got a call by satellite phone Monday at 3 p.m. from one of the occupants who was able to swim to shore in the chilly waters.

Sgt. Darcy Fleury says the rescue was carried out by staff at Plummers Great Slave Lodge, a fishing lodge located near the entry to McLeod Bay on the east arm of the lake.

The RCMP wouldn't release the names of the three boaters without their approval.

Coast Guard auxiliary were also informed, but were unable to respond to the rescue, approximately five to six hours from Yellowknife. No one was injured in the tip-over.
