Pop shop sips success

Yellowknife (June 22/05) - There's a little extra fizz around Territorial Beverages after the company was named this year's winner of the Business of the Year award from the NWT Chamber of Commerce.

The business and manager Bob Weaver, was nominated by Chuck Corothers, owner of the Home Building Centre.

"Bob does so much in the communities they serve, not just Yellowknife, without a lot of hoopla," said Corothers.

Territorial Beverages and Pepsi donated the score clock in the Rae gymnasium and the same can be said of score clocks in arenas around the North, he said.

"They make sure special events are covered and go above and beyond to provide customer support," he said.

The firm is a big sports booster with managers going as far as handing over keys to company vans so NWT teams can travel.

The award is a result of team effort, said Weaver.

"It is the people like Gary Stoby in Hay River who has been working with us for almost 20 years who are important to mention," he said.

The Weaver family bought Territorial Beverages Ltd. in 1978. It currently employs 16 staffers in Yellowknife and Hay River.
