Drum up for national award

Yellowknife (May 27/05) - A new plaque will be added to the wall at the Inuvik Drum office in next few weeks.

The Northern News Services (NNSL) publication is among top three newspapers in the running for best front page honours in the Canadian Community Newspapers Association (CCNA) Better Newspapers Competition. The Drum also earns a Blue Ribbon award as one of the best newspapers in its circulation class.

These are be the third and fourth awards for the Drum in recent weeks. It was named best paper in its class by the Alberta Weekly Newspapers Association and also won top honours for best front page in late April.

Three other NNSL publications are also in the running for CCNA awards.

Deh Cho Drum is nominated for best all-round newspaper in its class, best ad design and wins a Blue Ribbon.

Nunavut News/North is a nominee for best all-round newspaper in its class, best cartoon, best special section and has earned a Blue Ribbon.

NWT News/North is nominated for awards in two classes, best special section and best business writing.
