Yellowknife (May 20/05) - The poster boy for NWT/NU Skills Canada Chris Fournier, will be the first to represent the NWT or Nunavut in the World Skills Competition in web page design.

The 19-year-old is one of 26 people representing Canada in Helsinki, Finland, for the four days of competition this week, where he will be showing off his skills at web page design.

Fournier said that it's exciting to be representing Canada, even if it does mean putting his abilities into high gear.

"I was thinking that it would be a whole lot of more work," Fournier said.

"I just finished preparing a lot for the national competition and then hey! I finally won... oh no, now it's even more work. But at the same time I'm really excited," Fournier said.

Fournier said that his pages have a very clean, clear and easy to read design that emphasizes practical areas of web page design. "Usability was a very large factor in my design," said Fournier of the pages he submitted at the Skills Canada competition.

While he will be in a foreign country, Fournier said most of his energy will be focused on the competition.
