Waiting to exhale

Yellowknife (May 13/05) - Megan Russell and Cole Marshall have to wait another week until they hear if their films won any awards at St. Pat's fifth high school film festival.

Cole had two films in Wednesday night's festival at the Capitol Theatre and acted in one. His film 'Revenge of the Little People' chronicles Grade 9 students in their attempt to get back at graduating students. "There is a big Grade 9 class this year so I hope to get a lot of votes from them," he said with a laugh.

Cole's second film 'Cager 2005' is about the school's basketball team.

Megan's film is summarized as, 'Harder than any organized sport, Extreme Ironing takes skill, energy and an utter lack of intelligence.'

Win or lose, both Cole and Megan said they do it for fun, despite the fact the process can be hard on the nerves.

"I am always afraid of people's reactions because people have all different senses of humour," Megan said.

"I don't breathe when my film is showing - that's why they are as short as possible," Cole said.

Megan won Best Movie last year for her film titled The Adventures of the Delayed Reaction Man. For the past two years, Cole's films have won for Best Actress.

"Last year my film got the most applause, but it still didn't win," he said.

Whatever else they do after high school, both Megan and Cole said they will keep making films.
