Yellowknife (May 11/05) - A pair of Yellowknife teenagers were arrested Monday night after police responded to a break and enter in downtown Yellowknife.

Officers found a 16-year-old boy inside the building and caught another 17-year-old after he fled the scene, RCMP Const. Kerri Riehl said. The teens were charged with break and enter and were expected to make an appearance in court Thursday afternoon.

Three people were arrested in connection with the bust, though police declined to disclose their names.

"The investigation is ongoing, so we cannot release that information," Riehl said.

Police did say the seizure could result in a trafficking charge.

Police are looking for the rightful owner of two large bags of coins, discovered near Highway 4 last month.

Investigators believe the coins may have been stolen during a break and enter and stashed beside the road, Riehl said. The coins - which were not collectibles - were frozen into the ground, leading police to believe they were outside for several months. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers.

Cocaine and pot seizures

Police announced a pair of drug busts Thursday, but released few details about the suspects or the quantity of narcotics seized.

Acting on information from the community, officers raided a home in downtown Yellowknife around 3 p.m. Monday. They discovered cocaine and drug paraphernalia, said Riehl.

A 52-year-old man was arrested and charged with possession of cocaine, though police are not releasing his name or the amount of drugs seized.

Two days later, police raided a Yellowknife home and confiscated a "large" bag of marijuana and more drug paraphernalia.
