Cameron Unka, 19, called officers "faggots" and was twice wrestled to the ground after being pulled over in downtown Yellowknife, March 22.
An intoxicated Unka said we was "not (expletive deleted) blowing" when police asked him to take a breathalyser exam at the Yellowknife detachment following his arrest.
He told officers his mother - a corrections officer - would "have their job," Crown attorney Sandra Aitken said Tuesday morning in territorial court, where Unka pleaded guilty to three charges: refusing a breathalyser exam, driving while disqualified and obstruction of justice.
Unka was later "taken down" by officers after he clenched his fist and tried to goad them into a fight, Aitken said.
"He was an ugly piece of work," said Territorial Court Judge Michel Bourassa. "He was a danger to the public and a danger to police officers."
Aitken withdrew two charges of resisting arrest after Unka entered the guilty pleas.
Unka's licence was suspended for 12 months in September 2004 after he was convicted of a drunk-driving related offence. Bourassa added a two-year driving ban following the latest conviction.
"I would like to say I am sorry for disrespecting the RCMP," he said before being sentenced.
"I'm really nervous right now," he added. "I've never been to jail."
Bourassa sentenced Unka to 14 days for refusing the breathalyser exam, one month for driving without a licence and 45 days for the obstruction of justice.
The sentences were concurrent, meaning they will all be served at the same time.
