Yellowknife (Apr 20/05) - Customers should be able to see that sundaes are "2 4 $2" a little more clearly now that the lights inside the McDonald's sign were changed, April 11.

The sign requires fluorescent lights similar to those used in any office. A total of four, four-foot lights; and eight, five-foot lights are needed to power the McSign.

After testing the voltage running through the bulbs, John Hatton of Independent Electric said the lights were fine, if a little dim.

Working for the only sign lighting company in town, neither Hatton, co-worker Rob Sunderland, nor their boss can remember changing the lights since the sign went up more than 10 years ago.

When Yellowknifer came by, the group was having trouble removing the red panel from the front of the sign.

It appeared as though the yellow arches had been lowered by crane on top of the red sign when it was built.

Eventually their boss pried some of the siding open so the dimmed lights could be changed.

The real question is how many billions have now been served?
