Courthouse looted

Northern News Services

Iqaluit (Apr 18/05) - Culprits broke into the Iqaluit courthouse early in the morning of Thursday, April 14.

"That's a lot of friggin' gall," said Sgt. Dale McLeod.

Suspects disabled the alarm and pried open the rear door to the building around 3 a.m.

A large quantity of cash and cheques was taken from the building, police said.

At the time of publication, the exact amount was not known, police said. A liquor bottle was also taken.

Police are looking for at least two suspects who were captured on video surveillance.

McLeod said he's fairly confident the culprits will return to the building soon - to face charges.
