NWT News/North is among the top three for best local retail ad layout, use of spot colour, and in-house promotion. Nunavut News/North is among the top three for use of spot colour and use of process colour.
Overall, NWT News/North is among the top three in its circulation class for General Excellence, which judges the overall newspaper content, including news and sports coverage, photography, design, typography, quality of advertising and classified pages.
Among premier categories, both NWT and Nunavut News/North finished in the top three for Cartoon of the Year. Norm Muffitt draws cartoons for both newspapers.
NWT News/North was also nominated for Best News Story with Jack Danylchuk's reporting on former cabinet minister Roger Allen's contentious residency in Grimshaw Alberta.
News/North Business Writer Stephan Burnett has been nominated for a feature on the NWT Business Development Corporation in the Best Business and Finance story category.
The awards will be presented April 9 in Toronto. Ontario Community Newspapers Association is an industry association representing more than 270 newspapers in Ontario, Nunavut and the NWT.
