Three youths face 24 charges

Northern News Services

Pond Inlet (Mar 28/05) - It must have been more embarrassing in front of his mother.

Police arrested two young males riding a snowmobile on March 18 after one started making faces at an officer, who recognized them and realized their vehicle was stolen.

The mother of one of the youths was sitting in the squad car's back seat, getting a ride home from the grocery store at the time.

Another of her sons was arrested soon after, when he entered the police station looking for his brother and was told he was also wanted.

Twenty-four charges would eventually be laid against the three in connection with break and enters around the community since December.

"We closed a whole whack of break and entries," said Cpl. Gavin Nash.

The elementary school, high school, elder's centre and a government office were broken into during that time Nash added.

The youth, who range from 13-16 years old, were released on strict conditions and will appear in territorial court on May 17.
