Crime watch:
RCMP respond to 441 complaints

Yellowknife (Mar 23/05) - RCMP responded to 441 complaints from March 7-20, including 176 calls to assist with intoxicated persons.

During that time, there were five thefts from vehicles reported. Stereo equipment and a guitar were among the items stolen.

There were five break-ins, three into residences and two were into business premises. Nothing was reported stolen in any of the incidents.

Candy and a clock were among the items reported stolen in two shoplifting incidents.

Police also received two complaints of possession of marijuana.

There were 37 assaults reported, including minor assaults and domestic disputes. No reports of assaults using a weapon were received.

There were 12 complaints of impaired driving received. One person was charged with impaired driving and one person was issued a 24 hour suspension.

Of four motor vehicle collisions reported, two involved non-life threatening injuries and two involved damages to the vehicles in excess of $1,000.

Six vehicles were reported stolen and five traffic tickets were issued by RCMP.

There were three reports of sexual assault.
