Crime watch: Weapons used in three assaults

Yellowknife (Feb 09/05) - Police were called three times to Ndilo over the last two weeks to deal with reports of assault with a weapon. One of the incidents is still under investigated.

In total, RCMP responded to 366 calls for service from Jan. 25 to Feb. 7. Of these, 129 of them were to assist with intoxicated persons.

Five break and enters to residences were reported. Two reports to possession of cannabis were received.

There were 27 assaults reported. These included minor assaults and domestic disputes.

Police were also kept busy on the roads. Three reports of impaired driving were investigated, but no charges were laid.

There was one collision reported with injuries. Five collisions were reported where damages to vehicles were over $1,000. Of those, two were hit and run reports.

Two vehicles were reported stolen.

Three traffic tickets were issued. Four verbal warnings were given and there are still three traffic matters still under investigation.

Six reports of shoplifting in downtown Yellowknife were received.
