Crime Watch: Police respond to 20 drunk driving calls

Yellowknife (Feb 23/05) - RCMP responded to 406 calls for service from Feb. 8 to Feb. 21. Of these, 164 were to assist with intoxicated persons.

Police were also called 20 times to investigate reports of impaired driving.

There were five break and enters to residences reported during the two-week period.

Two reports to possession of cannabis were received.

Police responded to 20 reports of assaults, which included minor assaults and domestic disputes.

There were five reports of assault with a weapon.

Six reports of shoplifting were received.

In traffic incidents, police were responded to two collisions with injuries.

Three collisions were reported where damages to vehicles were over $1,000. Two others involved damages to vehicles under $1,000.

Two hit and run incidents were reported.

There were five reports of vehicles stolen and five reports of theft from vehicles.

Two traffic tickets were issued and six verbal warnings were given.
