Eleven homes broken into

Yellowknife (Jan 12/05) - RCMP received 624 complaints between Dec. 27 to Jan. 9. Of these 185 of them were to assist with intoxicated persons.

There were 18 break-ins reported. Seven of them were break-ins into businesses. Among the items reported stolen was cash and electronic equipment. There were 11 residences broken into.

Among the items reported stolen in these cases was a CD player, clothing, compact discs and an electric guitar.

Twenty compact discs were stolen in the lone theft from vehicle reported.

There were 12 motor vehicle collisions reported. Two involved injuries, nine involved damages to the vehicles in excess of $1,000 and one involved damages under $1,000.

There were 40 common assaults reported to the police. These included minor assaults and domestic disputes. There were three assaults with a weapon reported. Among the weapons used was a knife. One person has been charged with assault with a weapon as a result.

There were four sexual assaults reported to police.

There were 10 possible impaired driving complaints received. RCMP charged one person with impaired driving and issued one 24-hour suspension.

A robbery was reported, but that proved to be unfounded.

There were five theft of vehicles reported.

In three incidents of shoplifting, items reported stolen were cologne and hairspray.

There were 14 traffic tickets issued during this time period.
