Dangerous offender hearing on hold

Iqaluit (Nov 29/04) - Final arguments in a hearing to determine whether an Iqaluit man will de deemed a dangerous offender have been scheduled for Feb. 17.

Mosesee Nowdluk is charged with assault with a weapon. According to the Crown, he has been convicted of 14 violent offences since 1982.

The 39-year-old could face seven years in prison if Justice Earl Johnson decides to grant the Crown's application.

The last witness took the stand on Nov. 19, but final arguments were postponed because attorneys were away.
