Yellowknife (Nov 17/04) - RCMP received 150 calls to assist with intoxicated persons from Nov. 1-14. That's more than 37 per cent of the 401 calls for service from the Yellowknife detachment during that time.

During the two-week period, six businesses and seven residences were broken into. Cash and electronic equipment were among the items reported missing.

Two businesses reported wilful damage to their property.

There were four reports of shoplifting. Among the items reported stolen were hairspray and clothing.

There was one report of possession of cannabis.

There were 40 complaints of common assault received. These included minor assaults and domestic disputes.

There were six reports of assault with a weapon, while five others dealt with sexual assault.

Police responded to 15 impaired driving complaints. One person was charged with improper care and control of a motor vehicle, one person was charged with impaired driving and one person was charged with impaired driving and refusing to provide a breath sample.

Seven collisions were reported during this time period. Two of these involved minor injuries, two others involved damages to the vehicles in excess of $1,000 and three involved damages to the vehicles not exceeding $1,000.

Of seven vehicles reported stolen, police have recovered six.

Eight traffic tickets were issued.
