Inuvik (Nov 15/04) - Seven candidates have stepped up for the job of Inuvik Twin Lakes MLA.

They are hoping to fill the seat vacated by Roger Allen.

Last week, residents of the riding had a chance to get to know the two women and five men who will try to sway the majority of voters to their side before the Nov. 29 election.

Arlene Hansen, Pauline Gordon, Tom Williams, Clarence Wood, Richard Binder, Bob Simpson and Robert McLeod took part.

The forum attracted almost 250 people at the Midnight Sun Recreation Complex on Nov. 9. The forum featured three set questions, one involving the candidates' greatest weakness, another dealing with possible expenditure reductions or tax increases and the third asking candidates what would be the first Private Member's Bill they would introduce in the Legislative Assembly if elected. Homelessness, youth, pipeline impacts, addictions, self-government, transparency and maintaining good communication with Twin Lakes constituents were issues tackled during the evening.
