Yellowknife (Oct 20/04) - Almost 200 of the 508 complaints lodged at the Yellowknife RCMP dealt with alcohol between Oct. 4-17.

Officers were called 197 time to assist with intoxicated persons. There were 12 complaints of impaired driving. Three people were charged with impaired driving while two other were charged with refusing to provide breath samples. One 24-hour suspension was issued.

Eight traffic tickets were issued during this time period.

There were two thefts from vehicles reported during the two weeks. Among the items missing were change and compact discs.

Twelve break and enters were reported, six at residences and six at businesses. Among the items reported stolen were cash and marijuana.

There were two complaints of possession of cannabis, two complaints of possession of cocaine, and two complaints of cocaine trafficking.

There were 44 complaints of common assault received. These included minor assaults and domestic disputes.

There were five complaints of assaults with a weapon received. Items used as a weapon included a knife, a rock and a cigarette.

One complaint of a robbery was received. Three youths assaulted and robbed an individual of cash.

There were two motor vehicle collisions during this time period. One collision involved damages to the vehicle in excess of $1,000 and one involved damages under $1,000.

Six vehicles were reported stolen. All vehicles were recovered.

There were three reports of shoplifting received. Among the items stolen were clothing and food items.
